Easy Apple Cake

Folie1

Both our apple trees did not produce that much apples this year.  But we´re not
complaining, because we had so much trouble finishing up ours last year so
much so that we had to freeze some of them. In any given normal size apple
trees, once can fetch as little as 100 apples up to hundreds depending on the
tree and the weather that season.  Hubby spent a lot of time cooking Apfelmus
from last years apples but this year, we had the right amount to be eaten fresh,
gave some away, some were cooked and some - baked.

The baking season is starting about now.  One is, Christmas is not that far
away so you get all these stores stocking up on baking goods already and
secondly is, the weather is turning cold.  The locals seem to have more urge
to eat something more solid too, to feed their hunger in between meals and
what´s better than baking the cake yourself while enjoying the warm heat from
the oven after its done.  This recipe is very common here.  It is a vanilla cake
base with apple toppings.  I accidently leaved out the cinammon powder which
I felt were so essential in any apple cake recipe after realising them when
enjoying another apple cake in a friend´s house yesterday.  So, do add them
in if you can.

So here´s the recipe

1) Preheat oven to 180 degrees C

2) In a medium bowl, stir together 150 grams brown sugar, 50 grams white
sugar and 200 grams margarine until all incorporated.  Add four eggs in and
1 tsp vanilla essence.  Mix well.

3) Mix in 200 grams white flour, (about 1 tablespoon) cinnamon, and 1 tbsp
baking powder.  Beat all the ingredient together for about 3 minutes, then pour
into a 9 inch baking tray.

4) Arrange slice apples on the cake mixture (you need about 2 large apples), then
sprinkle 50 grams chopped hazelnut on top with 100 grams brown sugar and 50
grams cinnamon.
5) Bake for 45 minutes in the preheated oven. Serve warm or cool.
