Beer Bread

Photobucket

When I came across this recipe in Everybody Likes Sandwiches, I though WOW ... THIS IS IT! I shall be the perfect girlfriend and make him his two favourite thing which is Bread + Beer = Beer Bread!

Actually, the idea is workable and very simple. Beer contains yeast, and bread needs yeast. Just get them substituted and voila! Save your precious minutes when you use yeast. And the best part is ...

THERE IS NO KNEADING AT ALL!!!

Though the texture is not 100% bread, and it is actually a cross between a cake and bread, hey ... its delicious, easy to make and if you wanna impress your man *wink* THIS IS IT.

Here´s the Recipe (which I cut and paste from Everybody Likes Sandwiches!)

  • 3 cups all-purpose Flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Rosemary
  • 2 tablespoon Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 1 can of Beer

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, rosemary, parmesan and cheddar.
  3. Slowly stir in beer and mix just until combined. Batter will be thick.
  4. Spread in a greased 8-inch loaf pan and bake until golden brown and a toothpick stuck in the center comes out clean, about 45 minutes.
  5. Cool in the pan on a rack for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove from pan and cool 10 more minutes.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature.
